Steve's basement rehab gets rocked by the ebb and flow of tariffs as our hosts ponder rising prices on ordinary items. Inflation seems to be balloning, and they hope that we all won't be Schwinndled (definition in the episode). They welcome a repeat sponsor with a product that gives you the power of unelected power, and when looking for a place to buy it they find a delightful new store and a possible new sponsor. Their pricing depends on where you live, so move wisely. Steve considers newsprint for his basement remodel but can't find any. Jeff left early to attend a horse auction. Miss Clare was absent, attending a conference on Danish Engineering Initiatives (DEI). Johnny was relieved of his show-closing duties by a surprise takeover by Our King. Sources later said the takeover was a mistake but they were keeping the studio. Your enjoyment of this episode will be greater if you have watched "It's a Good Life," season 3 episode 8 of the original Twilight Zone, screenplay by Rod Serling based on a short story by Jerome Bixby.
