This week’s edition of the V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Autobarn features popular V8 Supercars and Super Touring privateer Cameron McLean.

The Queenslander was a fixture of touring car racing grids in the 1990s and early 2000s in the yellow hues of Greenfield Mowers, initially in two-litre racing in a variety of ex-factory machines before making the leap to V8s with Ford Falcons.

Among the first part of our two-part chat with Cam are the tales of starting out racing motorbikes, how he came to race an ex-Tony Longhurst BMW M3 in Sports Sedans and win the national title, making the leap to Super Touring, the gnarly surprise awaiting he and his crew when they unloaded their Opel Vectra fresh off the boat from South Africa, plus the slice of luck in finishing fourth in his final Super Touring Bathurst 1000.

He also talks about the start of his Supercars career, the deal he did to get on the grid after failing to qualify for his first race, and how he snagged the signature of John Cleland for his first Bathurst in a V8.
