The Virtual Tailgate crew returns for a midseason "defensive spectacular," though the theme quickly causes chaos. The hosts award their Game Balls, with Andrew celebrating the Stanford defense for shutting down FSU (an upset he correctly predicted) , Jarred highlighting Louisville's critical turnovers against Miami , and Geoff praising Cal's game-saving forced fumble at the goal line versus UNC. David, however, goes completely off-script, annoyed by the defensive constraint and sarcastically awarding his ball to the Virginia D-line, which he claims played "matador defense" against Washington State.

Jarred then runs down the ACC Power Rankings, prefaced by his "deep thought" on the conference. Georgia Tech and Virginia hold the top spots, while Miami tumbles after their loss and Boston College remains cemented in the cellar after an embarrassing loss to UConn.

David attempts to skip the weekly pick 'em recap , still salty about Andrew's continued dominance. Andrew reveals his big win came from a $200 bet on Stanford to beat FSU outright. The crew then previews the week's slate, breaking down SMU at Wake Forest , a divided pick on NC State at Pitt , and a unanimous decision to take Cal on the money line to beat Virginia Tech in Blacksburg.
