In this episode, which is Part 2 of a series on the basics of wine tasting, we look at the basics of wine tasting, with a focus on the appearance of a wine and what it tells you. starting with the flavours that you can expect to find in a given glass of wine.
Specifically, we consider what the colour and clarity of a wine can tell you and how you can learn to confidently describe the appearance of a wine!
This episode is meant to anyone and everyone who wants to feel more comfortable tasting and describing wine….but is especially geared towards wine lovers who are just starting out and looking for ways to build up their tasting skills.
Throughout the episode, there is reference to the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Systematic Approach to Tasting. You can find that here. Be sure to also check out the wine tasting guide that I have personally developed, which you might find easier to follow and is also a printable free resource for you.
Most of all, remember - wine tasting is a highly personal undertaking. Be sure to have fun with it, no matter what you learn or someone else says!
