Trigger Warning:

This episode contains explicit discussions and graphic details about female genital mutilation (FGM) and child abuse.

In this week's episode of The Worst Girl Gang Ever, we're taking a different approach. We recently had the opportunity to speak at a Midwifery Conference where we met the inspiring Hibo Wardere.

Hibo, a Somali-born advocate against female genital mutilation (FGM), is an author and public speaker. After fleeing the Somali Civil War as a teenager in 1989, she moved to London as a refugee. Her impactful testimonies and advocacy have established her as one of the leading voices against FGM in Britain, with her work featured in numerous publications.

In this episode, you'll discover:

  • Hibo's courageous journey to escape the civil war and seek refuge in London
  • The Headteacher of her school requesting that she address and educate her colleagues about FGM
  • Her personal experience as a survivor of FGM
  • Her ongoing efforts to protect women and girls
  • The steps needed to eradicate FGM entirely
