Dr. Ivan Vargas is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame, specializing in the science and treatment of insomnia. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program and the Center for Sleep and Circadian Neurobiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and earned his PhD in Clinical Science from the University of Michigan.

Dr. Vargas’ research explores the biological and behavioral mechanisms of sleep disorders, including how circadian and ultradian cortisol rhythms affect chronic insomnia. His work, supported by an NIH career development award, also evaluates behavioral interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). In this episode, Dr. Vargas shares insights into the causes of sleep disruption and evidence-based strategies to improve sleep and overall health.
