The contemporary connotation of hag is “old woman,” with additional senses of a careless, ugly, or evil appearance. In the Middle Ages, the term referred to a female demon or an evil spirit, but it was originally associated with something much more wonderful.

In this episode, I start a new series diving into the etymology of words that have been used against us. Where do these words come from and how can we embrace the original meanings and take back our power?

While on a wonderful "ladies of woo" retreat in Southern California, I lovingly referred to my weekend companions as some of my favorite hags of all time! They weren't so ready to accept and embrace the term of endearment, but after listening to this episode, you'll be giving a huge shout out to all your Hags, too!
