Job has had enough of his friends’ empty words. In Job 26, he shifts his focus from their bad theology to the majesty of God, describing His power over creation in a speech that reminds us how little we truly understand of His ways. Then, in Job 27, Job boldly declares that he will not deny his integrity, refusing to accept their claim that his suffering proves his guilt. Is Job being defiant, or is this a statement of unwavering faith? And what does it mean to trust in God’s righteousness when everything seems lost?
