Professor of history and Africana Studies in the W. E. B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies Amilcar Shabazz talks about his successful efforts in making Juneteenth an official state holiday and the importance of celebrating the end of slavery. Amilcar and Nef also discuss racism and antiracism, the struggle for African American representation in higher education, and the current backlash in teaching Black history and racial issues in schools.
