In a significant setback for the Trump administrations efforts to end long-standing school desegregation orders, a federal judge in Louisiana refused to close a desegregation case in Concordia Parish dating back to the sixties. The school system and the state have appealed, as the case is seen as a major test of the governments push to wrap up older legal battles. The Justice Department, once an ally in upholding such cases, now supports the administrations efforts, but the judges decision highlights the ongoing need for these court orders to improve education in predominantly Black schools.
