Just as with TDD and BDD, it is recommended that performance testing be started as early as possible. It’s much harder to change an application’s architecture once your software has been developed, so you want to ensure it’s done before you start any performance analysis.
Within the software quality assurance world, performance testing generally speaking is performed to see how your software responses to load, stress and responsiveness with different data workloads and timings.
