[Ep. 46] Why I stopped following my passion | UXR in big tech w/ Joelle Nivens
Manage episode 433218768 series 1525717
Should you follow your passion? Joelle found her passion early. She was getting her doctorate in archeology, when she hit her highest career and lowest life satisfaction levels. Her career in academia wasn't sustainable though - it took her years to work through the burn out.
So Joelle pivoted her career into tech, shifting research from neolithic to modern day human behaviors. Her chase to a more stable career was met by the onset of the biggest tech layoffs the industry has seen.
Come hear Joelle's money journey (courtesy of her grandma's lesson on always keeping cuss money) and navigating a UXR career in big tech.
