Rataeh Partsons || Serial Napper for Cases That Haunt Us
She was 15 when one night at a house party changed everything.A photograph, taken without her consent, spread through her school, her town, and her entire world. It became the weapon that stripped away her privacy, her peace, and ultimately, her life.
This is the story of Rehtaeh Parsons, a bright, animal-loving teen from Nova Scotia who dreamed of becoming a marine biologist. Instead, she became the face of cyberbullying, sexual violence, and institutional failure in Canada.
After her tragic death in 2013, national outrage erupted, Anonymous got involved, and two boys were eventually charged…not for assault, but for distributing child sexual exploitation. Her mother, Leah Parsons, turned her grief into advocacy, founding the Rehtaeh Parsons Society, which continues to educate and support others affected by sexualized violence and online harassment.
Rehtaeh’s story is a chilling reminder of how a reputation can kill—and how silence, shame, and apathy can destroy lives just as much as cruelty can.
