Dominic and Carmen started as friends who liked to sit together at parties in Los Angeles and after much time (8 years!) fell in love and got married. They decided to take a year sabbatical in Scotland where Carmen first began to discover her love for cooking. Dominic began courses to learn the business side of running a restaurant and they started with a small restaurant in Santa Barbara (where they had to cater in and out of each day!), Book Ends Cafe. This got their feet wet in the business and after closing this cafe, took some time off to decide where their next venture, The Daisy, would be. After finding the perfect space in downtown Santa Barbara, they began to dream and bring it to life. They’ve experienced many ups and downs since opening the restaurant in 2019, but the lessons they’ve learned are valuable for any partners working together especially in the food industry!
