Although the first-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) revolutionized the treatment of Ph+ CML-CP, the rate of resistance to these agents is high, and many patients require further treatment with second- and third-line therapy. The development of newer drugs with unique mechanisms that can overcome these resistance phenotypes offers new treatment strategies that can maintain response rates.
