Response to Operation Midnight Hammer....The U.S. military strikes in Iran, mixed, with widespread condemnation from Democrats in Congress and some Republicans... with many concerned about possible retaliation. Members of our military on heightened alert at bases around the world. Anti war demonstrators have gathered in New York's times square and across from the White House. Even before the attacks, protestors were marching through Center City, urging the U.S. to stay out of conflict. KYW Newsradio’s Sunny Morgan has more. A famous Villanova university weighing in... Pope Leo calling the situation in the Middle East alarming, saying stop the tragedy of war, he appealed for peace and told thousands gathered in St. Peter's Square that diplomacy was the only way forward. With temperatures set to rise close to 100 degrees over the next three days, Philadelphia has declared its first heat health emergency of the year. KYW Newsradio's Nigel Thompson talked to some residents about how they're managing the heat. On Tuesday, Philadelphia could break or tie the temperature record set in 1923... if, as expected the temperature hits 99 degrees. Triple-A is advising drivers to consider some preventative maintenance... not just with this heat wave in mind, but the rest of the summer too. Jana Tidwell with Triple-A Public Affairs says summer heat threatens your car battery even more than the winter freeze. Triple-A responded to nearly 98-thousand emergency roadside service calls in Philadelphia and the collar counties last summer. 43-percent of those calls were for dead car batteries and flat tires. You may not give a gasoline fill-up a second thought. But a Temple University alum devoted his doctoral dissertation to how stations appeal to drivers’ senses to sell more than gas.
