There has been a lot of discussion in recent months about "bail reform" and we have noticed the unintended impact in on community safety in communities that have adopted this model. All legislation carries a risk of "unintended circumstances" and bail reform is intended to insure that individuals arrested for low level, non-violent offenses do not remain incarcerated because they lack resources or adequate legal representation. However, Chief Josh Bruegger explains how wide-sweeping use of bail reform on violent offenders can place the community at risk.
