Welcome to The Daily Quote — a podcast designed to kickstart your day in a positive way. I'm your host, Andrew McGivern, for May 6th. It’s National Teachers Day, and if there were ever a day to thank someone who had the patience to explain long division more than once without flipping a desk, this is it. Teachers are the unsung heroes of our society — expected to be educators, role models, and occasionally tech support when the classroom projector fails for the third time before noon. They inspire curiosity, instill discipline, and occasionally assign a group project just to test your patience — and maybe your friendships. But deep down, they’re in it because they believe in potential — your potential. So in their honor, today’s quote comes from the legendary Carl Jung, who once said:

“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers, but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings.”

Now that hits a little deeper than your average bumper-sticker wisdom. What Jung is getting at here is simple: it’s not just what you learned that sticks with you — it’s how you felt when you learned it. You might forget the quadratic formula, but you won’t forget the teacher who made you feel seen. Understood. Respected. The truth is, brilliance is impressive, but empathy is unforgettable. So if there’s someone in your past who didn’t just grade your papers but also uplifted your spirit, today’s the perfect day to think of them — or, better yet, reach out to them. Even a simple message can mean more than you realize.

That’s it for today. On this National Teachers Day, take a moment to honor those who taught not just your mind, but touched your heart. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off for now, but I'll be back tomorrow, same pod time, same pod station with another Daily Quote. Take care.
