De’Vonna Pittman: Building Bold Brands with Purpose, Culture, and Confidence
Manage episode 484063216 series 3665346
In this inspiring episode of Tracey’s Keepin’ It Real, Tracey Williams-Dillard, CEO and Publisher of the Minnesota Spokesman-Recorder, welcomes powerhouse entrepreneur, author, and community leader De’Vonna Pittman to the mic.
De’Vonna is the founder and CEO of Nature’s Syrup, a plant-based beauty brand created to nourish textured hair and celebrate cultural identity. Her journey into entrepreneurship was rooted in what she calls “purpose work”—a shift from her years in public service to building a brand that not only beautifies but empowers. With a product line designed for natural hair and holistic self-care, Nature’s Syrup stands as a bold statement in the beauty industry: Black women deserve products—and spaces—that center them.
But her vision didn’t stop at the bottle. De’Vonna also launched the Curls & Culture Lounge, a luxury wellness space designed to uplift Black women and promote community healing. Her efforts have earned her national recognition, including being named the SBA’s 2024 Women in Business Champion of the Year. She’s also the author of The Beauty Brand Playbook, a practical guide for purpose-driven founders looking to build brands with soul and strategy.
Tracey and De’Vonna get real about what it takes to lead with vision, build bold brands, and stay true to yourself as a Black woman in business. From entrepreneurship and identity to self-worth and sisterhood, this is a conversation filled with gems for anyone dreaming bigger and moving with purpose.
